The click is dying. Marketing is just getting interesting. Here's the playbook for what comes next.

Zero Click Marketing is the must-read guide to earning attention, building an audience, and growing a business on a web that has mostly stopped sending clicks.

Over 2/3 of all Google searches now end without a click. Social networks reward content that keeps people on-platform. AI answers the questions that once sent visitors to your site. And your boss still wants a click-based attribution report by Friday.

This book is not a "how to go viral on TikTok" manual (your stats-minded authors hate those odds). It's also not a bloodless airport business book filled with interchangeable frameworks or prose that reads like AI (we didn’t let spicy autocomplete anywhere near this).

It's the field guide Amanda Natividad (Chief Evangelist of SparkToro, creator of the Zero Click Marketing podcast) and Rand Fishkin (cofounder of SparkToro, Alertmouse, Snackbar Studio, and previously Moz) have been building and using themselves since 2022, when Amanda first coined the term and both authors began turning it into a practical system for marketers navigating a click-starved web.

This book is for any marketer, founder, or creator who has ever thought:

💭 "Our traffic is down. But revenue is stable. What. Is. Happening?!"

💭 "I can't prove ROI on the channels that are actually working, so now my CFO wants to kill them."

💭 "Everyone keeps telling me to 'post native content' and also 'drive traffic back to the site,' and nobody will explain how to do both."

Inside, you'll learn:

🟢 Why clicks cratered — from Google's journey to becoming an "answer engine," to social platforms' link suppression, to the rise of AI Overviews and ChatGPT as discovery layers.

🟢 Why customer attribution is surreptitiously sabotaging your strategy — and how marketers (yes, us included) became complicit in the system that's now eating our lunch.

🟢 How to create effective Zero Click Content — the native-to-platform kind that delivers standalone value, grows your audience, and doesn't rely on bait-and-switch.

🟢 How to activate the channels where your audience is actually being influenced — PR, creators, community, newsletters, podcasts, AI answers... even when they're invisible to your analytics dashboard.

🟢 How to measure what matters — branded search lift, temporal correlation, audience memory... instead of sacrificing your soul to the traffic graph.

🟢 How to explain all of it convincingly enough that your boss, team, or client stops asking for yet another "Top 10 Tools" blog post.

Over 220 footnotes. Loads of data. Dozens of case studies from Duolingo, Seattle Ultrasonics, Uber, Steak-umm, Notion, and many others. Not one shred of "thought leader" posturing.

The click may be dying. But marketing is just getting interesting.

Meet Amanda Natividad & Rand Fishkin

Amanda Natividad is the founder of Zero Click Marketing and Chief Evangelist at SparkToro. She helped coin and popularize Zero Click Marketing beginning in 2022, and has since built it into a podcast, newsletter, consulting practice, and body of work for marketers navigating an internet that increasingly rewards value before the click. Amanda has spoken at events including AdWorld, Content Marketing World, and MozCon, and guest lectured at Columbia Business School, Cornell University, and the University of Washington. If you know her from the internet, it may be from Twitter/X, where she organically grew her account from 700 to 100,000 followers in under two years. Before marketing, Amanda was a tech journalist and a test kitchen cook — a background that shapes how she thinks about marketing: make it useful, make it generous, and make it memorable.

Rand Fishkin is cofounder and CEO of three companies: SparkToro (makers of fine audience research software), Alertmouse (the pun-filled brand tracking solution that works 100x better than Google Alerts), and Snackbar Studio (an indie game developer whose debut title, The Snackbar at the End of the World, is set in an alternate-reality 1960s Italy, launches in 2027). He previously cofounded Moz, the pioneering SEO software company, where he learned — expensively — that venture capital is a terrible asset class best taken like a rabies shot: only when absolutely necessary. His book, Lost and Founder, has sold 25,000+ copies and appears on dozens of "best books for entrepreneurs" lists. Rand has keynoted 200+ events around the world and is one of the most-followed digital marketers on LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Bluesky, and Threads. His work has been cited by the U.S. Department of Justice, the EU Antitrust Commission, and publications including the Economist, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the once-newspaper-now-games-platform New York Times.

Together, Amanda and Rand have spent the last several years watching the open web get swallowed by walled gardens, AI answers, and attribution dashboards designed to credit whichever channel happened to catch the click. Zero Click Marketing is their case for what to do about it, and their proof that you can write a proper marketing book with more footnotes than em-dashes, a running bit about Pringles Crocs boots, and no airport-business-book clichés.
